Scientific spacecraft and launch-system studies.

Our Space Systems programme studies launch vehicles and scientific missions. Within it, the Márquez Project explores spacecraft that could share system designs and modular payload interfaces.

From mission objectives to engineering requirements.

Current work covers mission design, system modelling and payload interfaces. The spacecraft shown here are preliminary concepts. Funding, detailed engineering and qualification would be needed before a mission could proceed.

ALLSTAR-1 PROGRAMME / NEW STUDY

PRE-FEASIBILITY

AllStar-1: a heavy-lift launch concept.

AllStar-1 studies a recoverable solid first stage and a target payload of 30 tonnes to a circular orbit at 400 km altitude and 28° inclination. The preliminary analysis examines mass, ideal velocity change and recovery costs. It also considers sequential booster ignition and the requirements for a possible launch site at Kourou.

STARSHOT SCIENTIFIC PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME

A proposed model for shared scientific missions.

Starshot would develop and operate the spacecraft while partner organisations contributed instruments or funded observation campaigns. Agreements would define payload capacity and the operations, communications and data services included.

Reserve capacity

Each selected payload would have agreed limits for mass, volume, power and data. Pointing and operating requirements would be reviewed with the mission team.

Fund integration

Integration agreements would cover interface reviews, qualification and installation through defined milestones.

Contract the service

A service agreement would specify launch arrangements, mission support and delivery of the agreed scientific data.

Extend successful missions

Further observation or relay services could be considered if spacecraft health and funding allowed an extension.

Funding and cost assessment

Before a mission proceeds, committed funding would need to cover an agreed development and operating plan. Financial assessment would include spacecraft development, integration, launch and operations alongside insurance, contingency and financing costs. A reservation would not establish profitability.
